This is a touchy subject, because I know a lot of Hubbys don’t mind going to photo sessions! However, I know that women are almost always more excited than the hubsters. So! With that being said, I put together a few tips to help the less than enthused Hubby to get on board the photo session train!
P.S. my own husband helped me put together this list! So it is definitely “Hubby Approved!”
Talk to him about…
How important it is to you
If this is something that is important to you, just have that discussion and tell him why! I was talking to my husband about this blog post and he brought up our engagement photos and how he didn’t realize that they were a thing until I talked to him about it, and then he was on board!
I think it is important to tell him that these are photos that you will have now but also throughout your whole life, to have forever to look back on and to document this time in your lives.
How it will be fun!
First off, when you pick your photographer, make sure it is someone you click with and feel comfortable with! This makes a world of difference because it cuts down the amount of awkwardness! My goal for my sessions is to make sure everyone is comfortable and having a good time, not feeling like it is a terrible experience that they can’t wait to get out of!
Another idea is to make a day of it! or part of a day! Blast tunes on the way to the session! Maybe go out to dinner with the kiddos afterward since you’re all dressed up! Make the whole experience as a whole fun!
I think he will be pleasantly surprised and that it will be a lot more fun than he originally thought!
How important it is for Momma to be in the family photos
This is a biggie! I feel like women are primarily the picture takers of their family, which is absolutely amazing! The only problem is that Mom gets left out of the photos a lot and this is not good at all! We need Mommas to be in the photos so they are always seen!
How photos make a home “homey”
Photos of family and friends truly make a house a home! I am so happy when I look at my walls and see all of the photos that I have either taken, had from when I was younger or had taken for me throughout the years! Explain that these photos aren’t just to have and then forget about but to use to create a beautiful, homey living space!
You might get to see a new, fun place!
This is one thing I absolutely love about being a photographer is getting to hang out in beautiful locations all around San Diego! When I first moved here, I really learned how to get around pretty quickly because of photo sessions! It is so fun going to new locations and exploring places I haven’t seen before! My hubby loves this about photo sessions too!
Photos make great gift ideas!
Just another perk of photo sessions! I absolutely LOVE photo presents! One year we made 6 photo albums for our grandparents and parents, and they were one of our favorite presents to give and a big hit with everyone! I love that you can do albums, gift prints, framed prints, cards, there is so much you can do with photos!
When all else fails: Suck it up!
This was my husband’s first answer when I asked him for advice on how to get Hubbys on board! Haha! So, if nothing else works, then this may be what it comes to!
I hope these tips help a bit!
Tell me in the comments what you do to get your hubs on board!
