Ahhhh, light. We meet again!
My answer to the question “Do I have enough light for an in-home session?” will almost always be a YES!
With that being said, I want to share my top tips on making the most out of the available light in your home!
1. Before your session I will ask you to do a little bit of homework!
I will ask that you monitor the light in your home, specifically the rooms that we will be taking photos in, to see what time of the day is the brightest. What I am looking for is lots of natural indirect light, without direct sun pouring through the windows!
2. Open up all of your blinds and windows!
This is a biggie! We want to make sure we are utilizing all of the light we have available to us! Also, while we are on this subject, I also ask that you turn off all artificial lights in and around the rooms that we will be in! This may sound counter intuitive because we want as much light as possible! But the reason why I ask you to do this is because natural light and artificial light have different temperatures, and when we have both, they can clash, and that is not a great look!
3. White Bedding!
I always, always, always, recommend white bedding! This is because white reflects light! So, not only does it look beautiful and clean, it will reflect the light that we have and magnify it!
