I hope you have been having an amazing week! It has been great over here but oh my goodness has it been hot! Although, today we got a little bit of rain and a nice breeze by me! So nice!
For today’s blog, I want to give you 4 Tips for a Successful Maternity Session!
Maternity sessions are so so beautiful. I love that they showcase Mom and the connection she has with her little one, and I feel like it is so important that they go well!
Without further ado, let’s get to the tips!
1. Plan Ahead
The less stress that surrounds a session the better! Book well in advance so you know that you get the date that works best for you! I love to do my maternity sessions around 30-33 weeks depending on your preference! I want your bump to be big enough to be the first to enter a room, but not so big that you are uncomfortable and dread moving around during your session!
2. Get Everyone on Board!
This is such a special time in life and it is so amazing that we can document it! I think it is really important that everyone coming to the session is on that same page! I want everyone to be excited and really want to do the session instead of thinking about it as something they have to do or should do! I want to reassure everyone that one of my top goals for my sessions is that you all feel comfortable and have a good time and I mean it!! (I even started bringing a speaker so we can play music during your session if you want!)
3. While on the Subject of Being Comfortable…
That brings me to my next tip! I want you to feel comfortable during your session in every way possible! Try on any outfits before the day of the session! You want to make sure that everything fits the way that you want it to and that you feel as confident as humanly possible! Double-check to make sure that nothing is see-through, riding up, sticking out (including bra straps), isn’t too tight or too loose, too short or too long, you want the perfect fit! You also want to make sure that your belly is comfortable! And this time I mean your belly, like have a little snack before your session! It is never fun to feel hangry when you’re trying to take photos! And last but not least, I want you to feel as comfortable with me as you can before your session! I love to email back and forth, hear all your fun facts, connect on social media, all of that fun stuff! I have said this before but I’ll say it again! I want your session to feel like we are just a couple of friends hanging out, and happen to snap a bunch of super cute photos along the way!
4. Make A Day Of It!
I think it is nice to think of your maternity session as a time for self-care! Make a day (or at least a half-day!) of it! Pamper yourself, make yourself feel special, relax, take your time getting ready, give yourself enough driving time, and come to your session stress-free!
I hope you got a little something out of these tips! Have a wonderful day! I will be back here tomorrow with an FAQ!
